About Dr. Tiemann

Dr. Johanna Tiemann has over twenty years of experience working with adults in various settings. She comes from a

diverse background, including studies in the arts which culminated in a master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music. Prior to her training as a clinician, she was employed as a computer programmer by major telecommunications companies and financial institutions.

Dr. Tiemann holds a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University, and she completed psychoanalytic training at New York University’s Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. She is also a skilled EMDR practitioner and hypnotherapist.

Dr. Tiemann is a published author in the fields of trauma, the psychology of racism, and multicultural psychology, and she has had the honor of speaking at conferences nationally and abroad.

Throughout her years in the field working with adults and couples, Dr. Tiemann has found her rich and varied life experience invaluable when working with patients to elucidate their own unique psychic landscapes. She believes that deep understanding of the contexts in which these landscapes developed and honoring the subjective experience they create are the keys to healing, growth, intimacy, and fulfillment.
